Before, during and after: PDO Threads

Every thread treatment starts with a consultation where we tell you honestly whether threads suit your face. If they do, a few simple steps help the day go smoothly.

Before

  • For a few days beforehand, avoid alcohol and — if you only take them occasionally — anti-inflammatory painkillers and supplements such as fish oil or vitamin E, as they can make bruising more likely.
  • Tell us if you have dental treatment planned around the time of your appointment.
  • Plan a quieter few days afterwards: swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness are common.
  • Let us know about a skin infection, a cold sore or broken skin on the area.
  • If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us — the treatment is postponed.
  • Come with clean skin and no make-up, and tie long hair back.

During

  • We mark the entry points and numb the area.
  • The threads are placed under the skin with fine needles or cannulas; you may feel pressure and a tugging sensation.

After

  • Swelling, bruising, tightness or slight puckering are common in the first days.
  • Avoid wide mouth movements, facial massage, dental work, exercise and saunas for a while — we'll tell you how long in your case.
  • Sleep on your back for the first nights if you can.
  • If you notice increasing pain, a pale, blotchy or dusky patch of skin or any change in your vision, contact Magda straight away.
