Mesotherapy is a series of fine injections into the skin, so preparing for it is mostly about bringing calm, healthy skin on the day.
Before
- Pause retinol, exfoliating acids and scrubs for a few days before each session.
- Avoid sunburn, sunbeds and self-tan on the area in the days beforehand.
- For a few days beforehand, avoid alcohol and — if you only take them occasionally — anti-inflammatory painkillers and supplements such as fish oil or vitamin E, as they can make bruising more likely.
- Tell us before your visit if you have a cold sore, a skin infection or broken skin on the area.
- Small bumps or redness can show for a short while afterwards, so plan around events.
- It's a series of 4 sessions — booking them ahead keeps the intervals regular.
During
- At your first session we go through your health details and agree the plan for the series.
- The skin is cleansed and a numbing cream may be applied, then fine micro-injections are placed across the area.
- You may feel a sting, a pinch or pressure — tell us if you'd like a pause at any point.
After
- Small bumps, redness or pinpoint marks are common for a short while.
- For the rest of the day, skip make-up on the area, exercise, saunas and alcohol.
- Use sun protection on the treated skin.
- If you notice increasing pain, a pale, blotchy or dusky patch of skin or any change in your vision, contact Magda straight away.
