A little planning makes the day easier and helps keep bruising to a minimum.
Before
- For a few days beforehand, avoid alcohol and — if you only take them occasionally — anti-inflammatory painkillers and supplements such as fish oil or vitamin E, as they can make bruising more likely.
- Tell us if you get cold sores, especially before a lip treatment — your pharmacist can advise on preventive treatment.
- Let us know about planned dental work, a recent illness or vaccination, and any fillers or other injections in the last 4 weeks.
- Don't book right before a big event: swelling and bruising are common and can take some days to settle.
- If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us — injectable treatments are postponed.
- Come with clean skin and no make-up on the area if you can.
During
- We go through your health details and agree the plan with you before anything begins.
- A numbing cream may be applied first. The product is placed in small amounts, and we check the shape with you as we go.
- You may feel a sting, a pinch or pressure — tell us if you'd like a pause at any point.
After
- Swelling and bruising are common and can take some days to settle.
- For the first day, avoid touching or pressing the area, make-up on it, alcohol, strenuous exercise and heat such as saunas.
- A follow-up visit within 14 days is included, so we can check how everything has settled.
- If you notice increasing pain, a pale, blotchy or dusky patch of skin or any change in your vision, contact Magda straight away.
