Before, during and after: Permanent Makeup

Show the guide

Permanent makeup starts with a PMU consultation: we agree the shape and colour, check your health details, and on the day draw the shape first — we only begin once you've approved it.

Before

  • For 24 hours beforehand, avoid alcohol and occasional anti-inflammatory painkillers.
  • Brows: skip tinting and tweezing for about two weeks.
  • Lips: tell us if you get cold sores — your pharmacist can advise on preventive treatment.
  • Eyeliner: remove anything glued to your lashes and wear glasses rather than contact lenses on the day.
  • Avoid sunburn and self-tan on the area before your appointment.
  • Plan the top-up: it's booked about 6 weeks after the first session.

During

  • A numbing cream is applied, then the pigment is placed in fine layers.
  • You may feel scratching or vibration — tell us if you'd like a pause.
  • The colour looks darker straight after and softens as the skin heals.

After

  • Keep the area clean and apply only the aftercare product we recommend.
  • Don't pick, scratch or rub — flaking is part of healing.
  • Avoid make-up on the area, swimming, saunas, sun and sunbeds while it heals.
  • Lips: tell us straight away if you notice a cold sore.
  • If anything worries you or a problem comes up, check in with Magda.
