Regenerative treatments use a small sample of your own blood, which is spun to separate the plasma. A smooth blood draw makes the whole appointment easier.
Before
- Drink plenty of water the day before and on the day — it makes the blood draw easier.
- Eat a normal meal a few hours before your appointment; don't come on an empty stomach.
- For a few days, avoid alcohol and — if you only take them occasionally — anti-inflammatory painkillers, as they affect how platelets work.
- Tell us about any blood disorder, anaemia or medicine that affects clotting.
- Come with clean skin and no make-up on the area; for a scalp treatment, with freshly washed hair.
During
- A small blood sample is taken from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma.
- The plasma is then injected into the treated area; a numbing cream may be used first.
- You may feel a sting, a pinch or pressure — tell us if you'd like a pause at any point.
After
- Redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising are common in the first days.
- For the rest of the day, avoid touching the area, make-up on it, exercise, saunas and alcohol.
- For a few days, avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers if you can — ask your pharmacist which painkiller suits you.
- If you notice increasing pain, a pale, blotchy or dusky patch of skin or any change in your vision, contact Magda straight away.
